Glory in the Ashes

I came across an amazing book the other day. The book entitled, Turn It into Glory by Meg Woodson, which I saw on my pile of dusty books while trying to salvage the mess. I got curious so I began to just scan the pages without giving it any thought when all of a sudden, God spoke. He said, very clearly, “son, remember when you asked me one day about quitting in the ministry. Remember when you asked me why when all else fail- when you run out of ideas, or when you’ve got no resources left, I still say move on? Well, there’s the answer. It’s right in your hands.”

I said okay, since you want me to read the book, I will read the book and not stop until I know what you’re talking about. So I began to very slowly read the book, the preface first, then the first chapter and by the time I finished I have cried a bucket of tears.

Meg Woodson was a mother who lost her two children to a dreaded disease called cystic fibrosis. But above all else, she’s a Christian. She is not perfect- she gets angry and sometimes slam a lot of doubtful querries to God and His goodness but still she recognized that the hardship isn’t the most important thing of all. Still she realized that the most important thing is to turn every moment of seeming defeat and exhaustion into glory.

I remember Dr. Wayne Cordeiro, author of another amazing book called, Rising Above the Rubble. He reflected about the sudden destruction of the World Trade Center Towers of New York City and rightly said that using its rubbles to build another twin towers in equal grandeur is humanly next to impossible. However, he also said that when it comes to our faith that for so many times keeps on failing, it can be done. There is glory behind the ashes.

And so I came to realize that when I feel like giving up, God says move on because everytime I fall, I fall right back to His arms. I have decided, I will never ever say, I am about to give up ever again.
